Canadians, Firearms and Self Defence

Why are we being treated as irresponsible children who can’t be trusted not to burn the house down if the parents leave for a minute?

I just found the CanadaCarry Forum.

Quote:

CanadaCarry was born out of the strong desire of many law-abiding Canadians to have the option legally to carry a firearm for the defence of themselves and their loved ones in case of emergency.

We look forward to the chance to get some common sense and clear thinking in front of a lot of decent, good, Canadians – we hope they take the time to read and understand – and we welcome them here to join us in gaining the means of meaningful self-defence.

People who aren’t easy victims aren’t likely to be victims.

I am enjoying this site quite a bit. I do not carry a firearm for self defence but in some situations I would like the right to do so.

Although I have many years in empty hand self defence training and quite a few years with stick and knife, can I really call myself a self defence expert if I have never trained with a firearm for self defence?

How about:

Here are some very useful facts the media don’t want you to know:
Quote:

In 2004, the National Academy of Sciences reviewed 253 journal articles, 99 books, and 43 government publications evaluating 80 gun-control measures. The researchers could not identify a single gun-control regulation that reduced violent crime, suicide, or accidents. A year earlier, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on an independent evaluation of firearms and ammunition bans, restrictions on acquisition, waiting periods, registration, licensing, child access prevention laws, and zero tolerance laws.

Conclusion: none of the laws had a meaningful impact on gun violence.

found in General discussion.

I don’t have much to say on the topic yet but for you readers who would like to explore this topic of the right to carry a firearm in Canada for self defence, drop in and introduce yourself to these folks. Tell ’em I sent you!      :)
